Duck, NC
The aptly-named town of Duck retains much its charm from its days as a major stop on the migratory path of Atlantic waterfowl. In those days, the waters were nearly covered with ducks, geese, and other water birds that gave this area its reputation as one of the best hunting locations on the East Coast and led to construction of a number of hunt clubs.
Bordered by the Currituck Sound on the west and the Atlantic Ocean on the east, the town boasts vacation rental homes to fit any budget, quaint boutiques, waterfront dining, and abundant watersports.
